This past year with Bracken has sure been crazy. Life with 3 young kids is chaos. Bracken is such an integral part of that chaos that I can't even imagine life without this little stinker.
So Bracken turned 1 on May 7th but we didn't really celebrate it til the Sunday after.
I made him chocolate cupcakes with chocolate cream cheese frosting. As you can tell, it was a hit. This little man LOVES his chocolate.
At 1 years old here are some things that Bracken likes:
-Chocolate, as previously mentioned. The form usually doesn't matter. He'll even devour semi-sweet chocolate chips.
-Playing outside. Every time I open the front door he makes a mad dash for it. If the door gets shut before he makes it out a tantrum inevitably follows. The poor kid gets shut out of so many doors and it breaks is poor little heart.
-His sisters. It is funny watching the dynamics between him and his two sisters.
-Food. Sometimes he's picky but mostly he just loves food and he's hungry all the time.
-Mommy. This kid is such a momma's boy.
-Going up and down the stairs. The day he figured out how to go up must of been the best day of his life because he realized mommy could no longer desert him downstairs.
-Throwing balls
Some things Bracken dislikes:
-Being set down. Unless it is his idea of course.
-Doors being shut before he can make it through them.
-Mommy walking away from him.
-Being babysat.
-TV. Maybe not so much a dislike but more just zero interest in watching it.
Some other accomplishments and interesting tidbits:
-Bracken's name is perfect for plugging in to various names and phrases etc. and so nicknames are always aplenty for him. His most commonly used one is Brackie. That's what me and his sisters call him fairly regularly. Other fun names we have come up with are: Brack-man, B-man, Sir Bracks-a-lot, Brackie Mo Mo, The Brackmeister, Brack Attack, there's plenty more but they probably seem a lot more clever and funnier to us so I'll spare you all our little phrases where we plug Bracken's name in(just in case you were wondering they are things like "Why you Bracken so cray-cray").
-Brackie pretty much walks everywhere he goes and he loves it.
-Bracken's single minded determination may eventually be a good thing but right now if he wants something, like say to go into the road, he is relentless and will not give up. Oy! I don't know how I keep up with this kid!
-B's favorite form of communication is yelling but occasionally we get some sweet cooing with a momma and dadda thrown in there.
-When you say fold your arms Bracken will fold his and start some sweet little babbling like he's saying the prayer. It's completely adorable!!
-Bracken now wears size 5 shoes.
-Despite his large feet Bracken still isn't quite big enough for his 12 month clothes. Now that Bracken is drinking whole milk though we are thinking he'll fatten up.
-Speaking of which, Bracken hasn't nursed for a whole entire week now! Yay!!!
Bracken had his 1 year check up last week. He got 3 shots(sad) but he handled them really well after. Just a bit of a fever yesterday and a bit sluggish today. Here are his stats:
Weight-18.75 lbs. (12%)
Height- 30.5 in(76%)
Head- 62%
Believe it or not his weight % is up from last time. Probably because whole milk has been introduced to his diet. I'm giving him a year, maybe 2, before he's as big as Arya :)
